3rd Feb 2012 OFLM division 1 Round-up
Division 1 - Week 2 Preview. After an interesting first week the OFLM’s elite league comes back with some mouth-watering ties for Week 2. First up its Pete Cross and his Scrutlington Rovers side. They came back from the dead at Perfect City last week and now they face Matt Peters FC West Leigh. It’s already being dubbed as a super tie and both managers know that 3 points would be a big, big coup for early dominance in the division. Whist a draw would stop Scrutlington from getting into their stride it would slow down FC West Leigh’s early pace which has been a key to their huge success in recent years.
Prediction – Draw
Mad man Milo Dunne still believes his side are top 3 material but this week he’s up against Ben Walker’s Perfect City. Both these sides’ squandered leads last week and both these sides will not accept a draw this week. It’s been dubbed win or bust early on for two great pretenders to the league title. Good starts were required and Milo Dunne’s excuse last week was blaming a secret code for his side squandering a lead to Spartak. Ben Walker on the other hand tore his hair out as Scrutlington came back when it seemed the perfect start for City.
Prediction – Perfect City Win
Mark Griffiths will be hoping to set an early pace against newly promoted Cornish Revolution. Chris Conway already has done the Incredibles a big favour by dispatching early league title favourites Anfield Ducks 2-1 on the opening day of the season. He will be hoping to grab more unexpected points this week but knows full well that it is a hard task against one of the most feared teams in the history of OFLM.
Prediction – Incredibles Win
Olympic Milan will be hoping to add early misery onto Lorne Rangers as well as get one last crack ast the league title underway. A good 6-3 win over Wyndamvale last week along with Lorne’s shocking 5-2 defeat home defeat leaves the pundits and the bookies slashing odds on an Olympic Milan win. Already the best figures in the markets show that many punters are going for the 9.5 goals or more option.
Prediction – Olympic Milan Win
Despite the glamour ties and big clubs games Real Revolution have a real chance to go top in the league, if only for a week. They play Johnny Walkers Dukla Pumpherston and another win against the so-called league whipping boys is surely on the cards to add to their great 5-2 victory last week. A big result could propel them to the summit of the league and it would give manager Michael Lippett the satisfaction of saying “I was top once,”… every managers dream.
Prediction - Real Revolution Win
Adi Burke’s men are away to Wyndamvale Wombats and being dubbed as a crucial 3 points early on by the visitors suggests that Burke’s side are looking to slot into mid table security from a very early stage. The Wombats know they can score goals and will be looking to pepper Spartak with everything they have just they cannot defend against quality as was evident last week against Milan.
Prediction - Draw
FC Palace were unlucky last week whilst The Dublin Dominators were hammered. Coming up as Champions is one thing but against a sturdy side like Palace should prove a tough test for newly promoted home team. Mark McConnell knows points against the mid table sides are vital in the Dominators quest for survival and Richard Mortimer knows that three points against relegation fodder is a must in his quest for mid-table sticking about.
Prediction – Palace Win
And Finally Tower of Revolution’s manager Dan James is looking closely at the situation regarding Anfield Ducks manager Andy Docherty. His whereabouts remain a mystery and it has already had a massive effect last week. The Ducks the early favourites lost to Cornish Revolution a side they should be beating and this week they face T.O.R another side they should be beating. If they squander points at this one it could be all but over for the early league favourites. Dan James on the other hand smells blood and is hoping for a positive result in his sides struggle for survival which has started well with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dukla Pumpherston last week.
Prediction – Anfield Ducks Win (If Docho gets his act together!)

3rd Feb 2012 OFLM division 2 Round-up
Coolios Ace Whilst Breffni give Lords the Blues. A couple of the main contenders for promotion to Division 1 unveiled themselves this week, as both AC Coolios and Breffni Blues registered big wins to send them to the top two places in the table.
Coolios’ mixture of youth and experience took full advantage of a Dublin side missing a recognised keeper, to thrash them 8-0; with Venturo Foxe grabbing half the goals to make him the early leader of the Divisional top scorers. “The manager has had a plan for the side for quite a while”, Foxe said after the game, “I’m happy to be part of the plan, and happy to be part of a promotion push.”
Kenneth Dobbinson’s 5-1 victory at The Dark Lords was all the more impressive, not simply because it was away from home against another promotion contender, but because manager Kenneth Dobbinson completely tactically out-thought old FLM warhorse Stuart Williams. Club chairman Gwyn Evans spoke after the game of Dobbinson’s importance to the club: “he’s the most talented Kenneth I know”, his Chairman gushed.
Surprise of the day was possibly that there was not a single draw in the Division. Dubai Dessert and Falkirk Hotspur looked destined to share the spoils until young superstar Luke Mitchell popped up in the 85th minute with an exquisite chip. “The manager told us to sit back, but I was having none of it. I’m a better player than Stewart Stanfield ever was,” Mitchell bragged. Mitchell’s relationship with his manager looks like a headline maker for the rest of the season.

3rd Feb 2012 OFLM division 3 Round-up
Division 3 Week 4 preview. Daniel Perry has been parachuted into crisis club Kincardine Loyal in a bid to rescue their season barely three games into the new campaign.
After three straight defeats and no goals scored, the Royal Bank Park club moved quickly to snap up the ex-Deportivo Azrael manager.
Perry is no doubt that he needs to act quickly to bolster a squad rocking from a dismal start to the season.
The manager has already shipped out 26-year-old keeper Lamarr Pidgelly in an attempt to bring in urgent funds while clubs have been made aware that star men Edward Carson and Marc McInally are available for the right price.
It’s a decision that has split opinion among Loyal fans, who are still reeling from the departure of former manager Gary Horne after five years at the helm.
Horne was a controversial figure, who was never afraid to express strong-held opinions even if they didn’t hold sway with the establishment.
Managers were quick to pay tribute to the Scot with Perry leading the way but the Birmingham-based boss will put the niceties to one side when Sporting Aldershot visit this Thursday.
And it won’t be an easy start against a Shots side boosted by a 4-2 victory at former leaders The Toto Project and the news that first choice keeper Aled Carbone’s injury is not as bad as first feared.
Horne’s exit was quickly followed by the dismissal of Aussie Built manager Peter Bryson, who failed to make an impression during his short tenure.
The rock-bottom club have been less successful in recruiting a new manager with caretaker Ron Atkinson again expected to take charge for the relegation six-pointer at Barry Bears FC.
Despite bagging seven goals in their opening three games, the luckless Bears are still without a point but Mike Rees is confident of turning things around.
But the Aussies will hope they can repeat last season’s 4-1 win at The Comfy Den in a double over their rivals before they both earned promotion from Division Four.
Barton Revolution are the only other side yet to take a point and will be underdogs when they host top-of-the-table Villa Stripes this Thursday.
Other games: Aero Galaxy v The Toto Project, Goalpost FC v VS Khorosho, Lewes Fireflies v AC Valladolid, Los Gringos v Auckland United, Seven Sisters FC v Liberty City.

3rd Feb 2012 OFLM division 4 Round-up
Tolstoy in “scoring from open play” shocker! Tolstoy manger Matthew Myatt will be happy that his team have finally scored from open play. Clearly the players felt had something to prove to their manager, as not only did they score once, but they followed it up with an equaliser eight minutes from time in their 2-2 draw with 10-man Ity Bity Allstars. Ity Bity manager Rob Newman must have been happy with his team taking a two goal lead despite the 14th minute dismissal of Schultz, but will be less pleased with his team's defence letting Tolstoy snatch a point late on.
WBA Baracus suffered their first defeat of the season, at home to Dragon Revolution. WBA were rocked by the fifth minute injury of star frontman Danny Marks, but his replacement Yzerman's 75th minute equaliser was immediately annulled by 17 year old Oliver Wallis's first goal for Dragon one minute later.
Dragon will be hoping they can end another unbeaten run next weekend, when they take on Christchurch TEC at Sai Kung Phoenix. Christchurch survived the 51st minute dismissal of key midfielder Giogio Hayes for two bookable offences to overcome Deportivo Azrael 5-0. Loan star Laurence Harries did most of the damage with a hat-trick, with further goals from Totti and Ametola.
Unbeaten Athletico Baghdad will have been disappointed to play out a 0-0 draw at home to Blackheath Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are still without a win this season but manager Damian Murray will be happy that they managed to keep a clean sheet despite 38 attempts on their goal, 19 of which were on target. Bulldogs goalkeeper Brightwell was, unsurprisingly, the man of the match.
FC Vikings secured an impressive 6-1 victory at Tassie Tigers to send a message to the rest of the division that they still intend on having a say on this year's promotion race. Hawker FC won 5-0 away at Saxon Star, with the impressive Trent Benjamin bagging four. Tolstoy Dynamo's defence will not be relishing the prospect of facing the in-form striker on his own ground next week.
De Oranje Lejer continue to flounder, losing 2-0 at home to Thames Water Works FC, who take second place in the league table following WBA Baracus' loss. Water Works manager David Hanna has gone about his work quietly, with his team maintaining their unbeaten start to the season without much fanfare. Surely now the rest of the division will start to take notice. They face a tricky trip to Athletico Baghdad next week.
Finally, basement side Radford Love Rockets picked up their first point of the season at home to Tweedside Satans, with Edmundo equalising Cuisick's 18th minute opener four minutes later. Tweedside manager Derek Purvis will be hoping his side find their scoring boots for next week's game against FC Vikings, who have scored an average of 4.6 goals a game in the league this season, while his team have managed a measly six in total.
